Staircase Sketch - AS exam preliminary

I drew this using various pencils as a preliminary sketch for my AS exam piece. I created quite a few drawings from various angles. I used this image in my final piece.
This is on A3 thick paper and took about an hour to draw.

Graphite Drawing AS

I drew this last year at the start of my Art and Design A-level course.
It is of a still life that was set up by our teacher, using man made and natural objects.
It is designed on the theme of confined spaces and drawn with graphite on A2 sized paper.

Cushions

I designed and produced these three cushions for my GCSE course work for Textiles. I have always had a strong interest in home furnishings and love working with fabric. Last year I designed and created a Little Black Dress and a clutch bag for my AS course work. I could not include photos of these as they contain images of myself.
This year I am producing a Salsa dress for a real client with a budget of £100.

Tonal Analysis of a Still Life

This image is of a section of a still life that had already been set up in the class room. I decided to use it as practice for my final A2 course work piece.
I used grey scale Conté crayons and charcoal to create a tonal analysis of the objects in relation to the negative space behind. It used A2 sized paper.

Life drawing - Painting with a limited pallet

I painted this at the last life drawing class of this year. I found it very hard but very enjoyable. The limited pallet meant some strange colours but a wonderfully interesting result. I had only two hours in which to complete this. It was on thick A2 card.

AS Conté crayon still life.

Before we started our AS course work last year we completed a range of drawings and this is my favourite.
Using Conté crayons I have created a complicated still life image of a mixture of natural and man made objects. It was certainly challenging.
I feel that it has lead me onto my A2 course work piece, because it has developed my interest in the use of Conté Crayon and started my interest in Vanitas.

A2 life drawing.

My life drawing this year has definitely improved. The composition of this drawing worked really well, the model has been encased in the frame of the image.
I used a mixture of white Conté crayon, charcoal and graphite to create this in the hour given. It is on A2 sized paper.

Preliminary Conté crayon drawing of fore shortened horse skull.

I created this piece as a preliminary drawing to the work I am doing now for my A2 course work.
I changed the angle of the skull, which fore shortened it and meant it was harder to draw.
I am really pleased at the outcome of this drawing and I am looking forward to seeing the end result of my final course work piece.

AS exam staircase

This piece is a photo of a photo of my AS exam piece. I used acrylic paint on board for this. It's roughly 4ft x 3ft.
There were up and down moments but I was really happy with the end result and still am.
The idea came from the exam theme of rhythm and cycles. The first idea was about how staircases are used, how the people move and how you can watch them change over time. A staircase never looks the same. The second idea was the light and shadows I used, which were almost an accident to start with. They show change over time but also the cycle of light throughout the day.
I really enjoyed creating this piece.

A2 course work Vanitas still life

This is a photograph of my A2 course work piece in the process of being created. I have used Conté Crayons to create this Vanitas still life. I became interested in Vanitas paintings last year and feel that this piece has stemed from that interest.
It is all about human values, especially those of high value to me personally. The element of death is to show how life is the most important thing that should be valued. Approx. 4ft by 3ft.
